Humboldt Research Prize for Prof. Nurit Stadler

We are delighted to announce that Prof. Nurit Stadler (HUJI) will receive the prestigious research prize by the Alexander von Humboldt-Foundation. She was nominated by Professor Claudia Liebelt, Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology (FU Berlin). Professor Nurit Stadler, is an esteemed anthropologist and sociologist of international acclaim, widely recognized for her groundbreaking analyses of religion's influence on various societal domains. Her research illuminates the ways in which religion shapes taboos, economic practices, art, culture, cosmology, and health, particularly in the context of the modern state's transformations. During her time in Germany, Professor Stadler will pursue an innovative comparative project exploring the intersection of sacred sites, geopolitics, and national borders, contributing to a deeper understanding of the politics of religion. During 2024-25, she will spend several months at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology.
